e.l.f. Aqua Beauty Blush & Bronzer Review

23rd July 201715th September 2017

e.l.f. Aqua Beauty Blush & Bronzer Review

On my most recent trip to Superdrug I was absolutely thrilled to find that Superdrug are now stocking e.l.f Cosmetics. I have heard so many amazing things about the brand over the years, they are known for the affordability and quality of their products.

Superdrug were offering a 3 for 2 across all makeup so I picked up a few bits including the e.l.f Aqua -Infused Blush and Bronzer.

Infused with purified water and vitamin E, the cream-to-powder formula hydrates your skin, leaving behind a dewy finish. Discover a glowing, sculpted complexion with the silky shades in this blush and bronzer duo.

Description/Formula

This Aqua Infused Blush & Bronzer Duo claims to be hydrating as it is infused with vitamin E and water. They are described as having a  cushiony consistency and  I have heard some people describe it as a “putty” like consistency. The texture feels like if you were to press your finger a in tube of  play-doh (That is honestly the best way I can describe it 😉 )  I actually think it is pretty cool and I have never seen any other makeup product like it.

Application

I’m literally obsessing over how easily this product applies to the face. It can be applied before you power or after you powder. The first time I tried this product I had just set my foundation and I was terrified that it was going to destroy my makeup. However I was so surprised at how the formula changes from an almost wet consistency to a powder consistency once applied on the face.

They apply effortlessly on to the face and are both extremely blendable. I use a small angled contour brush to apply the bronzer and a small blush brush to apply the blush. The pigmentation of these are insane and a little goes a long way. E.l.f recommend applying the product with a damp sponge which I have tried but for a more natural look I prefer applying them with a brush. However, either way looks really gorgeous and it leaves a radiant, natural finish.

Colours

I picked up the shade “Bronzed Peach” , it is a beautiful pinkish coral color blush with a slightly deeper golden bronze shade, perfect for medium to tanned skin tones. The blush looks beautiful and gives a nice flush of color to the cheeks , the bronzer gives nice sun-kissed look. Both the powders have a slight shimmer to them, but that’s not visible when applied  and blended out. I have been using the bronzer to contour because it is not too warm toned and honestly the formula is a dream to apply.

Wear Time

I am also very impressed with how long these last on my skin, even after 8 hours, I could still see the color on my cheeks. I am in love with this little compact, the duo is perfect for my skin tone and looks so natural. The formula is amazing , the cream to powder combination is so lightweight and feels hydrating. It adds a nice pop of color and makes my skin look luminous rather than muddy or dirty.

Overall, I am extremely impressed with the e.l.f Aqua Infused Blush & Bronzer. it is a really cool, innovative product that works. Hugh thumbs up from me!

The  e.l.f Aqua Infused Blush & Bronzer can be picked up from Superdrug for €8.50

YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Foundation Review

16th July 2017

YSL Touche Éclat Foundation

I am always on the hunt for foundations that give me “Glow”  so usually if a foundation promises to give me glow, radiance or luminosity I am all for it! YSL Touche Éclat Foundation promises just that, and more.

The YSL Touche Éclat Foundation is Enriched with the stimulating power of Ruscus Extract, the anti-fatigue formula promises to energise the  skin by stimulating micro-circulation and targeting dullness to instantly improve skin brightness and luminosity. Vitamin E protects against free radicals. It is formulated with SPF 22 to provide sun protection, and is said to leave a weightless finish while offering eight hours of a refreshed, radiant look. So, obviously I had to try it! 😉

YSL Touche Éclat Foundation

Packaging

As with all YSL products, the packaging for this foundation is gorgeous with a luxurious look and feel to it. It comes in a weighty,  glass slender bottle with a gold cap that displays the signature YSL logo on top.

Shades

The foundation comes in 22 shades.

  • B (Beige – neutral)
  • BD (Beige Dore – warm)
  • BR (Beige Rose – cool)

Overall there is a really good color range with this foundation and I did not find it difficult finding my shade.  I was matched up at the YSL counter with the shade B20 which has a neutral undertone. Usually, I go for warmer undertones but I found the warmer tones (BD)  in this collection a little too on the yellow side for my skintone, so, I would advice getting matched up at a counter if you are thinking of purchasing this foundation.

Formula/Application

The foundation has a creamy texture that isn’t too runny, but not too thick either. I have tried using the foundation a few ways,  my favorite way to apply this is with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I find when I use a brush to apply a more “glowy” foundation it can sometimes take the glow away and doesn’t live a natural finish.

The foundation is designed to give radiance and a natural glow to the skin, so I found  applying it with a brush gave me a more satin to matte finish.

The Real Techniques Complexion Sponge gives you an even and flawless coverage, and the dabbing motion also helps set the foundation and remove any extra product that causes caking or creasing.

A little goes a really long way with this foundation and it blends seamlessly into the skin. Two pumps covers my entire face and leaves a medium coverage, if I want a more full coverage look I will build it up with another layer using a further pump or two of the product.

Coverage

The foundation claims to be a full coverage foundation, however, I would say  it is a medium to full coverage. The foundation is easily build-able and a full coverage is definitely achievable. The nice thing about this foundation is you can go for a sheerer finish and build it  up if required.

It really is a breath of fresh air to find a foundation that can be built to a full coverage yet not  have a matte finish, it is not something that is easily found in foundations.  I really like the foundation for this reason.

I would say the  foundation has a skin like effect and is not overly dewy or glowy. It leaves a nice healthy reflect on the skin.

Wear Time

I find I get about 8 to 9 hours wear time with this foundation. You can get a little longer by powdering. I notice when I powder over the foundation it can take away the natural glow  the foundation gives, so i generally just lightly  powder my T- Zone when using this foundation.

You can buy the YSL Touche Éclat Foundation from Boots  or Brown Thomas  for €42
